How do you stand on the subject of Syria, Frank? Is it too potentially flammable a subject to ask you here?

Too potentially flammable? Did you forget who you’re talking to? ;-)

I think something like 90% of the U.S. is against a military strike on Syria. There’s a philosophy many of us hold sacred defined as “consent of the governed,” and despite the unpopularity of the war with Iraq, the majority of the country in the beginning still supported it (as well as going into Afghanistan before that). This time however we are almost completely united in opposition, and yet the government is completely ignoring us. Even worse, our military strikes would benefit the Al Qaeda fighters, the very same people who attacked us on 9/11.

We’re dealing with a soft form of tyranny in regards to a government gone rogue and refusing to answer to us, and even spying on us. These are truly sad days for us.

So our media report truthfully, then. :)

Why are the majority of people against it? Not saying they should be for it, quite the contrary, I’m just interested in their and your perspective.

I guess because we have no discernible interest there other than being the world’s policemen yet again, and people here are getting rather sick of it. Plus when France tells us to do something, I’m inclined to do the exact opposite. ;-)
